New 16 to 18 years Study Programme available at ALD with Learning Skills

New 16 to 18 years Hair, Beauty or Barbering training available

Hairdressing, Beauty therapy or Barbering training now available for 16 to 18 year olds at ALD and Gateshead Learning Skills.

Vocational training (Hair, Beauty & Barbering) based at ALD Birtley

Maths, English & Employability based at Learning Skills, Gateshead Interchange.

No previous experience or qualifications are required to join!

Travel expenses provided. 
& £2.50 Lunch allowance (full day attendance required)

Firstly on joining students will go into a Maths and English workshops on a Tuesday morning 9.30am – 11.30am  to do initial assessments and diagnostic assessments for 3 – 6 weeks depending on the learner.  

For any students who don’t attend this 3-6 weeks assessment period will be exited from the course (even if they attend 100% on their vocational course).
Once completed and the student levels have been assessed the timetable will be as follows 

Monday

Maths 9.30am – 11.30am        English 1.30pm – 3.30pm

ALD Barbering  4pm to 8pm

Tuesday

Maths  9.30am – 11.30am (This is a high level L2 class)     

Employability 11.30am – 4pm (with a 30min break)

Wednesday

Employability 9.30am -12.30pm

Thursday

ALD Hair & Beauty 9.30am to 3pm

Friday & Saturday – TBC

For any students that already hold a grade 4/C English and Maths they only need to attend Employability and ALD however they will be required to provide evidence of their Maths & English certificates.

Course total length approximately 6 months
