NHS Covid-Track & Trace App to download and Venue check in

Notice for all staff, clients and students attending ALD Academy

As from today all salons must display the official NHS QR poster in the premises for all clients and staff to use with their NHS COVID-19 app. This is in addition to the client details we already collect as part of our service for assisting in NHS Test and Trace.

We will be displaying the QR poster at reception and throughout the salon so it is easy for clients to “check in” by simply scanning the QR code on their phone. You will need to download the NHS COVID-19 app, which is available for both Apple and Android users
All collected data remains on your phone and complies with GDPR legislation. Your contact details will only be shared with NHS Test and Trace if it is requested. For more information and to read our privacy notice, please visit our website
If you do not have a smartphone or the NHS COVID-19 app, the information we collate and will still be used to assist NHS Test and Trace if needed, however, it is advised that you use the NHS COVID-19 app to scan the available QR code to help the NHS Test and Trace quickly and effectively contact everyone who may have been exposed to the virus during an outbreak and to provide the appropriate public health advice. This will help to stop the onward spread of the virus by quickly informing anyone who has been in contact with the virus to isolate where needed.

Client Hair Donation to Little Princess Trust!

Our amazing client Lisa Marie Shields attended yesterday to have her hair cut by our students and donated to the Little Princess Trust!

Lisa's hair was in excellent condition and was over 7 inches long, uncoloured too so was ideal to be donated.  Lisa has so far raised £135.00 which is absolutely fantastic.  If anyone would like to donate to Lisa follow this link

For anyone interested in donating hair to the Princess Trust we have copied the information from their website.  See blow for details and links-

Hair that The Princess Trust can use -
  • All hair donated to us must be in excellent condition
  • Our greatest demand is for hair donations of 16-inches or longer.
  • We have a current shortage of these longer lengths which make our most popular 12-inch long wigs.
  • The minimum length of hair that we can accept is 7inches/17cm. However, we do currently have sufficient stock of hair measuring between 7 and 11 inches, and that is why we encourage all our supporters to donate hair that measures 12 inches and above. Frequent donations of the shorter lengths could bring storage costs to the charity and we, understandably, would prefer to use our resources to provide wigs to children and fund vital research into childhood cancers.
  • Clean, dry hair, from any gender (please do not send us wet hair - it will not dry properly and is not usable)
  • Great condition (no split ends) and of any natural colour
  • Straight, wavy or chemically straightened
  • Curly hair – please see our curl chart guidelines in our FAQs for further information
  • Grey hair - we can accept hair with limited amounts of grey content. Find out more

Sorry, we cannot use hair that is…

  • Less than 7”/17cm long
  • Dyed an unnatural colour (blue, purple, etc)
  • Hair that has been dyed using semi-permanent dye
  • Henna-dyed hair
  • Dreadlocks cannot be used in our wigs.  Part of the preparation to blend hair donations together involves combining individual strands of hair.  All hair must be able to be combed to separate these individual hairs
  • Hair extensions.
  • Very tightly curled hair - our wig maker is not a specialist in working with tightly curled hair.  We do supply tightly curled wigs by either curling the hair after the wig has been made, or by using a specialist supplier.
  • Don't despair if you can't donate your hair there's other way to donate

Cutting & donating your hair

  • Wash and DRY your hair (we cannot accept wet hair - it does not dry in the post and will not be suitable if you have dried it after cutting on a radiator or other heat source)
  • Do not use conditioner or styling products
  • Put your dry hair into a ponytail/s
  • Secure at both ends with a hair band, and one halfway down
  • Ask your hairdresser to cut above the top band
  • Put the cut ponytail/s into a cardboard or heavyweight paper envelope
  • Include your completed Hair Donation Slip
Post to The Little Princess TrustBroadway House
32-35 Broad Street

Positive: Quality
Great tutors, great atmosphere to be in and around.

I would definitely recommend coming here if anyone wants to train in hairdressing, the tutors are fantastic and so supportive helped with my confidence as I was so nervous to start level 1. Can’t wait to go back for level 2☺️

This training has definitely changed my life. I love coming every week and I look forward to it all the time. The tutors are amazing; very supportive and make a great environment for anyone who is a little nervous. I couldn't recommend ALD more!

I would highly recommend this college, made close connections with all the staff since I came here for 4 years and done all my training in hair dressing level 1,2,3 also trained to be a nail technician & a masseuse, also done a hair extension course and qualified in over 4 types of extensions, since day 1 one they have helped me in everywhere possible with me suffering badly with mental health from not wanting to leave the house to actually looking forward to going to college I couldn’t thank them enough! If you are interested in barbering hair or beauty this is the college for you small groups, 1 to 1 support and the education you need 💜💜
