We can offer the following training-

FREE Hair, Beauty or Barbering Training for anyone aged 16 to 18 years. Full or part time available.

Carers/parents can still claim child benefits etc while students remaining full time learning

Travel, Daily Bursary and lunch allowance maybe available. 

No experience required and no joining criteria to meet

Work towards a VTCT fully recognised certification 

Excellent progression routes

Level 1 or level 2 training available 

19+ Adult Learning Training  Part time training- Funding may apply!

Level 1 Hairdressing (no experience required) 1 day per week 9.30am to 3pm - approx 5 month course

Level 2 Hairdressing (L1 or previous experience required) 1 day per week 9.30am to 3pm - approx 12 month course

Level 2 Barbering (no experience required) 20 sessions either Monday's 9.30am to 2.30pm or 4pm to 8pm

Level 2 Eyelash & Eyebrow Treatments (no experience required) *evening course Monday's 5pm-8pm (15 session course)

Funding will apply for the course fee to be fully funded if one or more of the following meets criteria-

Claiming JSA. ESA, Universal Credits, Income Support or if working and earning under £16009.50 per year.

If any one of these or more apply them students can qualify for the above course fees fully funded leaving them nothing to pay.

Uniforms maybe provided*

Course fee: £3345.00 however students can tap into student loan funding and apply for the student loan for this course.  Application is carried out online (we can support)

 Plus there's no credit checks etc and the application does not affect any mortgages or current loans etc

Students will repay the loan if they begin earning over £25,725.00

16 to 18 Study Programme with Learning Skills

New 16 to 18 years Study Programme available at ALD with Learning Skills

New 16 to 18 years Hair, Beauty or Barbering training available

Hairdressing, Beauty therapy or Barbering training now available for 16 to 18 year olds at ALD and Gateshead Learning Skills.

Vocational training (Hair, Beauty & Barbering) based at ALD Birtley

Maths, English & Employability based at Learning Skills, Gateshead Interchange.

No previous experience or qualifications are required to join!

Travel expenses provided. 
& £2.50 Lunch allowance (full day attendance required)

Firstly on joining students will go into a Maths and English workshops on a Tuesday morning 9.30am – 11.30am  to do initial assessments and diagnostic assessments for 3 – 6 weeks depending on the learner.  

For any students who don’t attend this 3-6 weeks assessment period will be exited from the course (even if they attend 100% on their vocational course).
Once completed and the student levels have been assessed the timetable will be as follows 

Monday

Maths 9.30am – 11.30am        English 1.30pm – 3.30pm

ALD Barbering  4pm to 8pm

Tuesday

Maths  9.30am – 11.30am (This is a high level L2 class)     

Employability 11.30am – 4pm (with a 30min break)

Wednesday

Employability 9.30am -12.30pm

Thursday

ALD Hair & Beauty 9.30am to 3pm

Friday & Saturday – TBC

For any students that already hold a grade 4/C English and Maths they only need to attend Employability and ALD however they will be required to provide evidence of their Maths & English certificates.

Course total length approximately 6 months
